Medicaid Spend Down

Program Description

Medicaid helps cover the cost of health care for individuals who meet eligibility requirements due to low income or significant medical expenses. Payments are made directly to approved health care providers. In certain situations, Medicaid may also cover medical services received up to three months prior to the month the application was submitted.

General Program Requirements

To be eligible for this program, you must live in Pennsylvania and be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident who requires assistance with health care or insurance. Your income must fall within low or very low-income levels. For those with very low income, additional requirements may apply—you must be pregnant, care for a child with a disability, or be responsible for children under the age of 19.
