Vaughn Glover, Jr. Obituary

Reverend Vaughn C. Glover, Jr., 71, of Mount Joy, formerly of Binghamton, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Luther Acres in Lititz. Born Thursday, September 18, 1952 in Susquehanna Twp., PA, he was the son of the late Vaughn C., Sr. and Marion (Kuhn) Glover. He was married 22 years to Rev. Traci (Benditz) Glover also of Mount Joy.

Vaughn graduated from Chenango Valley High School (NY), Grove City College (PA), and Drew Theological Seminary (NJ). He was ordained as a United Methodist pastor in 1977. In his extended ministerial career, he crossed state and denominational lines, serving congregations in New York (Endicott and Waverly), and Pennsylvania (Gouldsboro, Wyalusing, Montrose, Moscow, Harrisburg, York Haven, Mifflintown, and Strasburg). He completed one year of Clinical Pastoral Education at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

When he wasn’t preaching, visiting church members, or leading Bible study, Vaughn served as a volunteer fire fighter for several fire companies. He was active in both Lions and Rotary, holding officer positions in each. Vaughn enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards (in person and online), and Sunday summer concerts at Long’s Park. Other favorite ways to spend time included following the Pittsburgh Steelers, participating in an online fantasy football league, playing computer games, and until this last year, traveling.

Surviving in addition to his wife Traci, is a daughter Lucinda M. Gumaer and husband Rick of Sayre, PA; a son Andrew K. Glover and wife Holly M. L. of Moscow, PA; four grandchildren: Paige, Logan, Emmeline and Tobias, and one brother Joseph A. Glover and wife Jan of Bedford, VA. Vaughn was predeceased by a granddaughter Marion Jane Glover.
