Vassar Cooper Obituary

Vassar I. Cooper, 45, of Middletown, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, September 27, 2021. He was born Tuesday, November 11, 1975 to Jeffrey and Darlene (Longo) Cooper. He is preceded in death by his wife Rachel (Eckert) Cooper, and infant daughter Lillian Mae Cooper.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his children: Isaac Cooper and wife Shannon Felix, Madelyn Cooper, Aiden Cooper and Juliette Eckert; brother, Lucas Cooper; sister, Shana Grove and husband Timothy; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In younger years, Vassar grew up in Hollidaysburg, Pa. where he was a member of Grace Bible Church. He attended Boy Scouts with his brother Luke, and achieved the level of Life Scout he also was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He participated in football, track and field, and baseball. Vassar grew up closely with his siblings and cousins and always enjoyed looking back on childhood memories. Vassar is a 1994 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High School and while he was a long time employee of UPS, just recently he became an employee of FedEx. He enjoyed hunting with his Dad, family fishing outings, and would race his siblings to be the first one to wish his mother a happy birthday every year. He always looked forward to telling his newest jokes during their phone conversations. Vassar was a long time player of the game Magic the Gathering which he enjoyed teaching his eldest son, Isaac. He made many happy memories with his children as he held season passes to Hershey Park. Vassar was a fun, loving father who was always eager to spend time with his family. He will be missed dearly.
