Thomas Peck, Jr. Obituary

Thomas Bloodgood Peck, Jr., aged 95, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 6, 2022.

Tom left his childhood home in Syosset, New York, to attend Princeton University. During World War II, the Army sent him to the Philippines, where he served in Manila and Corregidor. Upon his return stateside, he completed his degree in Psychology, met and married his sweetheart, Betty Annis Peck, and went to work for the Central Intelligence Agency. His career took them to Viet Nam, Singapore, and then another tour in Viet Nam. After his retirement from a full career with the Agency, Tom returned to work for the CIA, both as a trainer and in response to a Freedom of Information Act request about which he had some expertise. Once he retired in earnest, he was able to pursue his interests in travel and photography. He and Betty took several international trips as well as multiple rambling explorations of the continental United States, especially the West, which they especially enjoyed sharing with their kids and grandsons. Some of his photographs were published, and some were used when he and Betty were guest speakers at their grandsons’ elementary school social studies classes. He was also a certified NRA pistol instructor and was delighted to provide official training to his grandsons upon their request. After living several years in Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, Tom and Betty moved to Masonic Village in Elizabethtown. Tom and Betty celebrated nearly 73 years together.

Tom is survived by his two daughters, Barbara Henning, of Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Catherine (Robert) Hallin, of Damascus, Maryland; seven grandsons, Joshua (Kim) Henning, Justin (Chanie) Henning, Ryan (Ashleigh) Henning, Brandon (Chelsea) Peck, Marshall (Katrina) Peck, Robert “RJ” (Jacklyn) Hallin, and Taylor Hallin; and 14 great-grandchildren, Colton Henning, Olivia Henning, Madison Henning, Jackson Henning, Ella Henning, Grayson Henning, Henry Peck, Marshall Dylan Peck, Bodan Henning, Cavan Henning, Blaire Henning, Eva Hallin, Adler Henning, and Zella Henning. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert (Susan) Peck, and by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Annis Peck.
