Teresa B. (Hatton) Vargo

Teresa B. (Hatton) Vargo, 88, of Elizabethtown formerly of Philadelphia, passed away on Sunday August 6, 2023. Born January 11, 1935, in Philadelphia she was the daughter of the late Edward and Rose (Delguercio) Hatton. She was married to and preceded in death by James Vargo.

After graduating John W. Hallahan High School for Girls, she spent her later working career doing domestic work for the Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she was a lifelong devoted member. In her free time, she enjoyed visiting the Poconos or accompanying her husband to Civil War battle sites. She was known by family and friends for her cooking, which is the way she showed love. She always had room at her dinner table for friends and guests. . 

She is survived by her children: Vincent Hatton, Christopher Vargo (Angelina), Gloria P. Hayes and Andrea Vargo; grandchildren: William Toy, Maria Vargo, Matthew Vargo, Masey Vargo and Maggie Vargo; a brother Edward Hatton. Teresa is preceded in death by her sister, Rosemarie Lelli.

A viewing with mass to follow will be held Monday August 14, 2023, starting at 12:00 PM at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church. 2319 Green Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday August 15, 2023 1:30 PM, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Teresa’s memory to the Pennsylvania SPCA.
