Susan Jane (Horting) Young, 76, of Palmyra, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 17, 2023 at her vacation home in Venice, FL. She was born Thursday, January 16, 1947 in Harrisburg to the late Charles R. and Kathryn P. (Boyer) Horting. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Gary Alan Young.
Susan was a woman whose warmth, laughter and boundless love touched the lives of all who were fortunate to know her. Susan’s journey was marked by a profound love for the beach and a deep connection with the simple joys of life. She was not just an observer; she was an active participant, finding solace in the sand and the soothing rhythm of the waves.
In her early days, Susan embraced the thrill of fishing, casting her hopes into the waters and relishing the tranquility it brought. Her adventurous spirit and determination defined not only her pursuit of the catch but also her approach to life’s challenges.
Susan’s talents extended beyond the waters, as she was an accomplished beautician who added flair and creativity to her craft. Her clients not only left with a new look but also with a piece of kindness and warmth that Susan exuded effortlessly. She was unbelievably talented in so many ways, an artist who could manipulate any canvas with a stroke of her brush, floral arrangements that came to life with color and care. Susan was one of the most talented and creative individuals you could ever meet.
A lover of literature, Susan found solace and inspiration within the pages of countless books. Her inquisitive mind and love for storytelling enriched her understanding of the word and left an indelible mark on those who shared her passion for the written word.
Susan’s authenticity was magnetic, drawing people to her with a unique blend of humor and sincerity. Her laughter was infectious, and her genuine nature created a welcoming space for everyone she encountered.
Music, a constant companion in Susan’s life, reflected her diverse tastes. From Elton John to the timeless tunes of the Rolling Stones, the brilliance of Pavarotti and the show of KISS, each note encapsulated a different facet of Susan’s vibrant spirit.
May the memories of her love and generosity comfort us in these difficult times. Rest in peace, dear Susan, knowing that your impact on our lives will endure for generations to come.
