Ruth Turpin, 94, of McVeytown, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Saturday, August 27, 2022. She was born Friday, June 8, 1928 to the late William and Marie (Melchinger) Hieber. She is predeceased by her loving husband since 2008, Herman R. Turpin.
Ruth was a very active member of the Order of the Easter Star, Neshaminy Chapter #374 since October 14, 1976. She participated in the flag drill team and she was a trustee. She headed many installation committees throughout her long tenure in Eastern Star. For many years, Ruth worked alongside the Master Masons of Woodside Lodge. Later in life, Ruth was also a member of the Mount Union Chapter #280. Ruth was a valued member of her Chapters. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for both Scrappy’s Auto Service and Fairless Hill Mobil. She was loved by all who had the good fortune to know her.
She is survived by her children: Bill Turpin and wife Sandy, and Jeanette Turpin and wife Carol Braceland; grandchildren, Michela M. Mansfield and husband Ed, and Ben Turpin and wife Jodie; great grandchildren, Andrew and Valery Turpin and Carys and Kai Moore. She is predeceased by a brother, Eugene W. Hieber.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11 AM in Sell Chapel at Masonic Village, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. A time of visitation will be held from 10 AM until the start of the service. Burial will follow the service in the columbarium at Sell Chapel.
