Ruth Mary (Monahan) Mallanson

Ruth Mary (Monahan) Mallanson, 89, of Grantville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Hershey Medical Center with her daughters by her side. She was the wife of the late Stephen Joseph Mallanson. Born Friday, December 28, 1928 in Altoona, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry A. and Mary A. (Demeir) Monahan. She worshipped in the Roman Catholic Faith.

Ruth worked for Aberfoyle Manufacturing in Philadelphia, doing clerical work for eleven years. She was a very devoted wife and mother her entire life. During the years raising her young children, Ruth worked her own cleaning business. It was important to her to be there before her children went to school and be home when they returned. In later years she worked at the Hotel Hershey in their employee cafeteria. She enjoyed the people she worked with and the friends she made. Ruth retired from the Hotel Hershey after working there 17 years.

Ruth and Steve enjoyed bird watching together and traveling to Cape May, NJ for the Spring and Fall migration.

She will be lovingly missed by her daughters: Diane Ruggles and husband Jack; Connie Hayden and Jim Herr; Karen Reigle and husband Ken; grandchildren: Christopher Meily, Jessica Schmitt and husband Christopher, Nicole Reigle and Kyle Reigle; great granddaughter Madison Page Schmitt; brother Elmer Monahan and wife Darlene; and sister Florence McKnight.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 904 Mill Road, Elizabethtown at 11:00 AM. Viewing will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
