Reverend Rodney E. Almeida

Reverend Rodney E. Almeida, 69, of Elizabethtown PA, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022. He was born November 14, 1952 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to the late Albert and Lottie (Hudy) Almeida.

Known to most as Father Rod, he was happiest behind the pulpit preaching the word of God to his congregation. He received his calling to the priesthood at the age of four and never wavered from his path. His childhood friends called him “Rev” due to his steadfastness. Rod attended Boston University and Savonarola Seminary to later continue his Divinity studies at Holy Apostles College. His passion for theology could rival most scholars. With many hobbies throughout the years, including model railroading, Rod led an active lifestyle. An athlete throughout his youth, he still had a love of sports into his old age. He was never one who wanted to stop learning; Rod often explored new areas of interest. 

He is survived by his two children Paul and Mary, his sister Sandra, his brother Brian, and his extended family. He was his children’s anchor and will be remembered for his selfless, kind and giving nature.

A memorial service will be held on July 16, 2022 at 10:00 am at Tewksbury United Methodist Church 2335 Main St., Tewksbury, MA.  His final resting place will be at the cemetery of St. Mary's in Tewksbury.
