Rachel Lorraine (Shackelford) Adams

Rachel Lorraine (Shackelford) Adams, 75, of Palmyra, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.  She was born Monday, March 6, 1944 in Hopewell, VA to the late Howard and Clara (Blackmon) Shackelford.  She was predeceased on Saturday, June 16, 2012 by her loving husband of 44 years, Ben Mitchell Adams.

She was selflessly devoted to her family, staying home to raise her five children.  Later in life she enjoyed loving and adoring her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She lived by the light of Christ and was an example of His love to all that knew her.  Her selflessness continues as an organ and tissue donor.    

She is survived by five children, Tammie L. Henry and husband Douglas of Middletown, Ben M. Adams, III and wife Denise of Lebanon, Kimberly A. Piotti and husband Joseph of Moorestown, NJ, John B. Adams and wife Nikki of Elizabethtown, and Michelle R. Adams of Palmyra; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchild; and 4 siblings.  She was predeceased by 3 siblings.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 13th at 11 AM at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 with Rev Samuel Fry officiating.  Burial will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.  A period of food and fellowship will follow burial in the celebration room at the funeral home.  Family and friends are invited for viewing on Tuesday, November 12th from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
