Pauline M. “Polly” (Austin) Wardrop, 96, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. Born Monday, April 5, 1926, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul Edward Austin and Blanche L. (Livingston) Austin. On September 25, 1946, she married Hector I. Wardrop and in December of 1951, they moved to Elizabethtown.
Polly attended the University of Pittsburgh for several years. She retired from the New Cumberland Army Depot on June 3, 1989, after 23 years of service.
She was an active member of the Donegal Presbyterian Church, Mount Joy, where she sang in the church choir, taught Sunday School for many years and was also active in the organization of Donegal Presbyterian Woman’s Club.
She is survived by two grandchildren: Marie Anderson, married to Christopher, of Landisville, and Mark Wardrop, married to Juanita, of Elizabethtown. Also surviving are eight great grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Teresa M. (Husband) Wardrop, of Mount Joy. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bruce W. Wardrop; a sister, Dorothy R. Haggard and two brothers, David L. and Harry W. Austin.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, in Donegal Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 1891 Donegal Springs Road, Mount Joy, PA 17552. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022, 717-367-1543.
