Michael R. Barker, 64, of Palmyra, passed away at home on Monday, November 1, 2021. Born Friday, November 9, 1956 in Valley Forge, he was the son of the late Robert and Ann Barker. He is predeceased by his wife, Bethann.
Mike graduated from Hershey High School in 1975, and later on attended Life University in Marietta, Georgia where he received his doctorate degree in Chiropractic studies. Mike was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and always enjoyed watching the games with his sons, whether it was on TV or getting tickets and going to the different games. He also liked to sit back, relax, and enjoy a nice cigar. During the holidays or when the family was all together in town, Mike was known for making a mean blue cheese dip that went perfectly with hot wings. Most importantly, Mike was a loving and caring father. After the passing of his wife, he took on the role of being a single dad, and always made sure he put his children first before anything. Being a father was Mike’s favorite attribute, and he would not miss a single football game, wrestling match, or rugby game. He loved his kids more than anything.
He is survived by two children: Jamison Barker and partner Colleen Troutman of Austin, TX; Braden Barker and partner Heather Mastrangelo of Kutztown, PA. Also surviving are his brother Bob Barker and partner Kim Carlson of Hershey, PA; and his sister Kathy Barker-Callahan of Mount Joy, PA.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078, 717-838-9211.
