Mary A. (Akers) Rowe

Mary A. (Akers) Rowe, 87, of York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at WellSpan York Hospital.  Born Thursday, August 31, 1933, in Princeton, WV, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Dora (Duncan) Akers.  She was first married to Donald C. Coffin.  Following Donald’s death, Mary was married to James L. Rowe until his death in 2013.

A homemaker for most of her life, Mary will lovingly be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She enjoyed sitting on the porch and playing fetch with her dog, Oscar.  She also enjoyed the many vacations that she was able to take with her daughter Cynthia and Cynthia’s husband, Scott, each summer as well as the many camping trips her and James were able to take each year.

She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia M. “Cindy” Mitzel, married to Scott W. of York as well as a son, James P. Coffin, of Shortsville, NY and another daughter, Linda S. Lee, married to David, of Ithaca, NY.  Also surviving are Mary’s extended family and caring friends.

Private interment will take place at the convenience of the family in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Smedley-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 29 North Gay Street, Marietta, PA  17547, 717-426-3614.
