Mary Evelyn (Negley) Ocker

Mary Evelyn (Negley) Ocker, 89, of Newville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at the Mercy House in Chambersburg.  She was born on Tuesday, January 1, 1935 in Newville to the late Howard Kenneth and Mary Maria (Scherich) Negley.  She was predeceased by her loving husband, Samuel Jay Ocker in 2013.

Evelyn lived her life for Jesus Christ.  She was a loving homemaker and worked tirelessly on the family farm to care for and nurture her family and those around her.  She was dedicated to her church, Newville Assembly of God, and served in various leadership roles with Farm Women Group 18.  Her life, living by the Bible, led many people both young and old to know Jesus.  The words “well done good and faithful servant” has never been more true.   

She is survived by a daughter, Delores Jean Albright and husband Lee of Newville; two sons, William E. Ocker and wife Kerry of Newville, and Daniel L. Ocker of Carlisle; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Jane Ocker of AZ; a brother, Richard Negley and wife Carol of Newville; two sisters-in-law, Dot Negley and Bev Negley. 

She was predeceased by two sons, David J. Ocker and Walter E. Ocker; a daughter-in-law, Clara Jean Ocker; four brothers, William, Paul, Harry and Lee Negley; six sisters, Grace Ickes, Kathryn Danner, Ruth Gutshall, Helen Thrush, Dorothy Young and Martha Reisinger.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 25th at 11 AM at Newville Assembly of God, 403 Oak Flat Road, Newville, PA 17241 with Reverend Jeffrey W. Kettering officiating.  Burial will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.  Family and friends are invited for viewing from 9 AM until time of the service at the church.  Finkenbinder Family Funeral Homes have been entrusted with the loving care.
