Martha Frances (Wiseman) Goonan, 67, of Palmyra, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at home with her loving family by her side. She was born Monday, February 18, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Arthur F. and Opal L. (Pugh) Wiseman. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Robert J. Goonan.
She graduated from James Madison High School in 1963, enjoyed playing the piano and was a gifted artist with many of her works adorning the walls of loved ones homes. She was a phenomenal cook combining her southern heritage with the Italian influence of her husbands family. Her unique sense of humor and wittiness was second only to her love for her family and her calling as a caretaker of those she loved.
She is survived by two sons, Robert P. Goonan and wife Dawn of Mechanicsburg, and Charles A. Goonan of Brooklyn, NY; three grandchildren, Veronica, Erin, and Patrick Goonan; a brother, William Patrick Wiseman of MN. She was predeceased by three brothers, Kenneth, Joseph and Arthur Wiseman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 22nd at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 245 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 with Father James F. Podlesny as Celebrant. Family and friends are invited for viewing on Friday, June 21st from 7 to 9 PM at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra. Burial will take place on Monday, June 24
th
at 11:00 AM in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
