Marie (Fitz) Lonie

Marie F. Lonie, 96, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Londonderry Village. Born Sunday, January 31, 1926, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Andrew A. and Sarah V. (Renkin) Fitz. She was married for 45 years to William B. Lonie who passed away in March 2005.

Marie had fond memories of working at St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh as a medical assistant.

A member of the Art Guild of Lancaster and several decorative painting organizations, Marie was a gifted artist and showed her work at area art festivals and fairs. She also volunteered as a docent at Landis Valley Farm and Village Museum.

Marie is survived by three children: Mark Lonie and wife Rowena of Blue Ball; Linda Poltonavage and husband Michael of Palmyra and Christopher Lonie and wife Kimberli of Harrisburg; 17 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and her sister Audrey Mauro of Murrysville, PA. She recently lost her sister E. Louise Fitz, age 98. Her oldest sister, Margaret L. Peterson, died several years ago at age 91.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at First Palmyra UMC at 1:30 PM. Viewing will be from 12:30 PM until the time of service. Burial will take place at Middle Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Lititz.
