Lois (Ebersole) Kelchner, 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, with family by her side on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Lancaster General Hospital. She was born Sunday, April 22, 1934 in Elizabethtown to the late Walter and Elva (Stoner) Ebersole. She is predeceased by her loving husband Robert L. Kelchner.
Lois was a loving mother and a diligent worker, first as a houseparent with Bob at Milton Hershey Boy’s school for four years, then as a bus driver for Laidlaw for 21 years. Lois drove bus E-17 for the Elizabethtown School district and enjoyed being an activity bus driver, where she transported the band. She was a faithful member of Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church. Bob and Lois served as Deacons for Messiah Home and Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church. Lois bowled in the Kennels League at Clearview Lanes, her other passions included golfing, teaching Good News Club, singing with her sisters, and baking wedding and birthday cakes. The thing she enjoyed most was taking her whole family to the beach for a week every year.
She is survived by 2 sons, Robert Kelchner and wife Brenda and Jeff Kelchner and wife Kelly; 2 daughters, Beth Groff and husband Kevin and Kristin Halterman and husband Michael; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother, Delmar Ebersole and wife Ruth; and a sister, Esther Yoder and husband Omar. She was predeceased by 5 siblings, Clara Cutman- Howell, Ruthie Zimmerman, David Ebersole, Marianna Longenecker, and W. Wayne Ebersole.
Family and friends are invited for viewing on Friday, August 2nd from 6-8:00 PM at Miller-Sekely Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown, 17022. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 3rd at 11 AM at Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church, 996 E. High St., Elizabethtown with Dr. David L. Hall officiating, with viewing from 10 AM until time of the service. Burial will follow in Goods Mennonite Cemetery.
