Kenneth L. Jurell

Kenneth L. Jurell, 70, of Palmyra, passed away unexpectedly at home on, Sunday, May 7, 2023. He was born, Thursday, December 4, 1952 to the late Robert M. and Helen (Myer) Jurell. He is predeceased by his wife, Judith “Judy” M. (Jefferies) since 2019.

A proud Marine Veteran, Ken was a member of the St. Johns United Methodist Church, Grantville. He was a graduate of Palmyra High School, class of 1970. Ken briefly worked for Luttrell’s Construction Company before finding his love for truck driving. He drove for Hess Trucking Company for over 40 years prior to retiring in 2019.  Ken and his wife were also foster parents for 11 years. More than anything he was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Kenneth is survived by his children: Jennifer K. Jurell and significant other Nicholas Ritz of New Market, VA, Kendra L. Jurell and significant other Jonathan Brenizer of Palmyra, Vicki L. Ford and husband Tom of Palmyra, Rose M. Labox and husband Heath of Washington, NC, and Tracey Hernley and husband Brian of Wilburton, PA; siblings, Jay Jurell and wife Dorothy of Palmyra, William Jurell and wife Darlene of York Springs, PA, Dorothy Lucernoni of Jefferson, MD, Betty Nauman and husband Charles of Manheim, PA, and Marie Sherer and husband Marlin of Pottsville, PA; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his brothers-in-law Anthony Lucernoni and Gene Umbrell.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 11 AM the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078. A time of viewing will be held from 10 AM until the start of the service and also on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 5 PM to 7 PM also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service on Friday at Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his memory to his church, St. John’s United Methodist Church, 165 Firehouse Rd., Grantville, PA 17028.
