James Dawson Patton

James D. Patton, 82, of Harrisburg, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022. Born in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Rufus Franklin Patton and Cynthia (Weigley) Patton.

After graduating from Susquehanna Township high school in 1958 he decided to join the Untied States Army and traveled to Germany. After returning from serving our country he spent his working career as a Buyer at Bowman's and was a loyal worker till they closed their doors. Jim then finished out his working career by working for the state in the department of revenue. In his free time he enjoyed coaching a woman's softball team. Leading them to win State and National tournaments. Spending time at Penn National and watching the horses was one of his favorite things to do. James was a dog lover throughout his life and enjoyed the company of Sadie for his last few years. 

He is survived by his sister: Cynthia Poet; Niece and Nephews: Cheryl E. Schaffer of Upstate NY, Robert H. Poet of Upstate NY, and Dr. Steven E. Poet of Southern OR. Services will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at 5:30 P.M. Faith United Church of Christ in Grantville, PA. 117 N Faith Rd, Grantville, PA 17028. Services will be officiated by Pastor David Dow. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
