James E. Kibbie

James E. (Jim) Kibbie, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2016 at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA following a lengthy illness. Born October 6th, 1926, in Westfield, PA, Jim is survived by son Jeffrey Kibbie of Mont Vernon, NH and daughter Julie (Kibbie) Grimes of Carlisle, PA as well as five grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by his wife of 60 years, the love of his life, Marian (Shaffer) Kibbie.

Jim was employed by Marlin-Rockwell/TRW Bearings in Jamestown, NY for 30 years. He and Marian raised their family in East Randolph, NY prior to moving to Hershey, PA in 1995. Jim was dedicated to his family, his community and he enjoyed golfing with friends.

In 1943 at the age of 17, Jim enlisted into the Army and was assigned to Patton’s 3rd Army, 787th Tank Battalion. He once recalled for the family how his tank was the first to cross the swollen Danube River on a pontoon bridge at the height of WWII as well being one of the first soldiers to arrive at Hitler's retreat at Berchtesgaden following V-E Day. His truly was the Greatest Generation.

Jim placed his eternal hope in Jesus Christ and humbly lived out his faith as evidenced by his kind spirit, patience and thoughtfulness.

A service of Committal is scheduled for 1:00pm on Thursday, December 1st, 2016 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, where he will be interred. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Home Health & Hospice Care, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054 or a hospice organization of your choosing.
