Herbert Braden Obituary

Herbert H. Braden, 90, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Londonderry Village, Palmyra. He was born Monday, August 10, 1931 to the late Leo G. and Frances A. (Massey) Braden. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Harlan) Braden.

 

Herb was a proud Army Veteran, served during the Korean War as a bandsman in the 326th Army Band at FT. Leonard Wood, MO. He enjoyed playing many instruments including the French horn, bass, and piano. He also enjoyed flying airplanes and sailing. Herb graduated from Bradford High School in 1949 and was a member of an award-winning state debate team. He then graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1956 with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. He was a very active politician. He served on the board of supervisors in Bensalem township, Bucks county from 1976-1982.  Two of those years he served as chairman of the board. He also was active in several citizens groups and the founder of the Citizen Caucus in Lebanon county. Most importantly he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

 

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children: Laura Pfeiffer, Elizabeth Braden and husband Jon Sharf, Lincoln Braden and wife Carol, and Emilie Jarrett and husband Lonny; 8 grandchildren; and sister, Ann Keitz. He is predeceased by his sisters, Emilie Mae Braden, Frances Lea Marvin, and Mary Mealy.

 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 3rd, 2022 at 12:00 PM at the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078. A viewing will be held from 11:00 until the start of the service. Burial will be held on Monday, June 6th, 2022 at 2 PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with full military honors.

 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Buddy Society at the Londonderry Village, 1200 Grubb Rd., Palmyra, PA 17078.
