Gerry R. Daniels

Gerry R. Daniels, 81, of Palmyra, passed away at home on Saturday, November 11, 2023. He was born on Wednesday, April 8, 1942 to the late Guy O. Daniels, Sr., and Kathryn E. (Long) Daniels and was raised in the Bachmanville area. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, DeeAnn E. (Weibly) Daniels.

Gerry was a proud Army Veteran serving as a military policeman. During his elementary years he attended a one room schoolhouse.  He graduated from Hershey High School in 1960. In 1971 he purchased farmland south of Palmyra where he built a log cabin farm home with the assistance of his family. He was employed at Hershey Foods for 38 years, primarily in the cocoa department while raising hogs well into his retirement. He was also a faithful member of the Palmyra Church of the Brethren, a life member of the N.R.A. and the Chocolate workers union. In his spare time, he enjoyed listening to country, bluegrass, and gospel music, talking on the phone with friends, and eating PA country food. He enjoyed hunting and spending time in the mountains. More than anything he was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister: Linda Ferree and husband Charles; nieces, Korene Boyd and Tammy Hannold; nephews, Dennis Daniels, Jr., Steven Miller, David Miller, Troy Daniels, and Kevin Wile; sister-in-law, Shirley Daniels; and several great nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers, Guy Daniels, Jr. and Dennis Daniels.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 11 AM at the Palmyra Church of the Brethren, 45 N. Chestnut St., Palmyra with Reverends Dennis Lohr and Nancy Hess officiating. A time of viewing will be held from 10 AM until the start of the service. Burial will follow the service at Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra. A luncheon will follow the graveside service at the church.
