Gerhard “Jerry” Max Hammer, 60, of Conewago Township, Dauphin County, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2014 in Fox Subacute at Mechanicsburg after a courageous battle with ALS. He was born Monday, July 5, 1954 in Magdeburg, Germany to the late Alfred and Gertrude (Gorski) Hammer. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Melanie J. (Lineaweaver) Hammer.
He graduated from Palmyra Area High School in 1972 and worked for PA Commercial Properties and most recently Plouse Precision Manufacturing in Harrisburg. He enjoyed spending time with his family, making lasting loving memories. He will be dearly missed by all.
He is survived by twin daughters, Sloan I. and Fallon E. Hammer of Conewago Township; a daughter, Nicole Foster and husband William of Lebanon; two grandsons, Billy and Tommy; a brother, Bernd Hammer and wife Cindy of Lebanon; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24th at 11:00 AM at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 with Karl L. Fisher officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10:00 AM until time of the service. Burial will follow in Campbelltown United Christian Cemetery, Campbelltown.
