George Leroy Bigler, Jr., 65, of Newville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in the Harrisburg Hospital. He was born Monday, November 7, 1949 in Chambersburg to Mary M. (Bittinger) Bigler and the late George L. Bigler, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Marcella A. (Finkenbinder) Bigler.
He was a member of the Big Spring Fish & Game, Friendship Hose Co. #1 of Newville, and a life member of Vigilant Hose Co. of Shippensburg. He attended South Fairview First Church of God, and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. To know George was to love George, he will be dearly missed.
He is survived by a son, George “Buck” L. Bigler, III and wife Chassy of Newville; two daughters, Michelle R. Eck and husband Daniel of Carlisle, Heather J. Hayslett and husband Phillip of Newville; seven grandchildren; one great grandson; a sister, Jeannie Brant of Shippensburg. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Christina L. Bigler; a brother, John “Eddie” Bigler.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11 AM at South Fairview First Church of God, 1212 Centerville Road, Newville, PA 17241 with Pastor Harry Madison officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 9 AM until time of the service at the church.
