Evelyn M. (Nolt) Horning

Evelyn Marie (Nolt) Horning, 74, of Annville, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 16, 2013 at home with loving family by her side.  She was born Friday, March 17, 1939 in Ephrata to the late Milton and Margie (Gehman) Nolt.  She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Leroy M. Horning.

She graduated from Ephrata High School in 1957, was a member of Weaverland Mennonite Church and attended Lebanon Valley Bible Church .  During her life she co-owned many business ventures with her husband, beginning with hand decorating his homemade furniture.  Later, she began baking and selling homemade bread to finance their biggest endeavor, the launching of the family business, Horning’s Furniture in 1963, which she managed until early September of this year.  She opened and managed a restaurant, Canterbury House, in Palmyra in 1978 and later opened Rock-A-Bye Baby furniture store, which continues in conjunction with Horning’s Furniture under the direction of her husband and children.  Evie had a servant’s heart and labored tirelessly and selflessly in service to others.  Her kindness touched the lives of many - her family, friends, acquaintances, and business associates.

She is survived by five children, Kathy L. King and husband David of Atglen, Suzanne M. Horning of Annville, Donald E. Horning and wife Wendy J. of Annville, Darlene F. Bosworth and husband David of Annville, Sally J. Moyer and husband Eric of Manheim; eleven grandchildren, Ashley King, Lindsay Putney, Katelyn King, Garrett Bosworth, Derek Bosworth, Hannah Moyer, Caden Horning, Kailey Horning, Connor Horning, Broden Moyer, Camden Moyer; seven sisters; five brothers; many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 20th at 10 AM at Lebanon Valley Bible Church, 1482 Horseshoe Pike, Lebanon, PA 17042 with Pastor Chandler Cutting officiating.  Family and friends are invited for visitation on Thursday, December 19 ^th from 6 to 9 PM at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street , Palmyra , PA 17078 and on Friday from 9 AM until time of the service at the church.  Private burial will follow in Weaverland Mennonite Cemetery , East Earl.
