Edward Thomas Doherty

Edward Thomas Doherty, 50, passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and family on December 7, 2023. He was born on March 20, 1973 in Suffren, NY. He is preceded in death by his father, Edward A. Doherty. He is a graduate of Miniskink Valley HS in Orange County NY. He received his Bachelor's of Science Degree in Business from Capella University. Eddie was employed by Newport News Shipyard, where he worked for 14 years. He began as a welder, progressed to welding foreman and advanced most recently to a project manager.

Eddie was known for his infectious smile and engaging personality. He was quick to make a new friend and had many hobbies. For many years Eddie was an avid member of the running community in Virginia. He proudly ran multiple marathons, including the Richmond Marathon, Marine Corps Marathon and NYC Marathon.

He was a competitive gamer known as Ryer. He was a passionate collector of fine bourbon. For the past 3 years he found joy living and working in Charleston, South Carolina with Jessica, Lucas, Wyatt and the chickens. He had just begun to show his creative side with his skilled woodworking.

Eddie will be remembered for his resilience and all of the enthusiasm and love he put into his life. He was a cherished partner, son, father, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle and friend.

Eddie is survived by his loving girlifriend, Jessica Conheady and her son, Lucas Conheady; daughter, Stephanie Doherty, son, Wyatt Edward Doherty; Mother, Veronica Doherty, sister, Kim Roche and her husband Tim; his brothers Stephen and wife Ora Lea, and Brian Doherty and wife Charlotte; Nephews Colin, Sean and Sam, niece, Erin, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

We would like to thank the kind staff at Trident Medical Center as well as his friends and coworkers who supported family and were at Eddie's bedside.

A service of prayer and remembrance will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 10 -12 at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home on 25 West Pine Street Palmyra, PA 17078.

Burial will follow at the Hershey Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Eddie's memory can be made to the American Heart Association and the American Welders Society Foundation.
