Earl R. Rapp

Earl Robert Rapp, 66, of Columbia, formerly of Marietta, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital.  Born Monday, December 6, 1954, in Columbia, he was the son of Dora Mae (Webb) Rapp and the late Earl Walter Rapp.

He enjoyed spending time at Chicques Rock Hunting Camp in Potter County and spent many weekends at his cottage on the Susquehanna River. Earl was always willing to help his family and friends. 

He was employed at H&H Casting, York, until July of 2021 when he retired.  

He is survived by his mother, Dora, of Marietta and five children: Shawn M. Rapp, married to Jolene, of Marietta; Chris J. Rapp, married to Mindy, of Marietta; Joshua L. Rapp, married to Laura, of Denver, PA; Anthony J. Rapp, married to Heidi, of Marietta and Rosemae V. Rapp, of Columbia.  Also surviving are his companion, Tina Zimmerman, of Columbia, along with 10 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter: Ian, CJ, Cael, Kirsten, Dalton, Logan, Josh, Ashlynn, Hannah, Phoenix and Rylie. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by sisters Deb Estep and Joan Rapp.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at the Smedley-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 29 North Gay Street, Marietta, PA  17547, 717-426-3614 with Pastor Jeff Burkholder officiating.  Interment will follow in Silver Spring Cemetery.  A viewing will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service on Thursday.

There will be a gathering of Earl’s family and friends at Shawn’s house after the services. Please bring your own chair.
