Domenico Morriello

Dominick Morriello, 93, of Mount Gretna, passed away on December 2, 2021. He was born on March 18, 1928 in New York City, and was one of 6 children born to Enrique and Rosa Morriello. A graduate of Queens Vocational High School, Dominick proudly served in the US Navy before working in construction and as a NYC taxi driver, as evident in his driving habits. He joined the United States Postal Service and spent the next 30 years delivering mail in NYC and Boston.

Dominick was most proud of his family and was married to his wife Catherine for 53 years. They had two daughters, Rosemary, and Elizabeth and was later known as “Pop” to his four grandchildren, Kim, Jamie, Cathy, and Jon and his nine great grandchildren: Allie, Andrew, Boston, Corban, Ellie, Bracken, Alex, Owen, and Libby. He was also well-loved by his many friends and making good on his promise to never grow up, became friends with friends of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who could count on him to attend all family functions, sporting events, concerts and pool parties with the teenagers.

Faith remained a constant in the life of Dominick and he spent much of his time attending church, watching church on television, visiting with his pastor, and donating to various charities. Food was another hobby and he enjoyed the fine cuisine of Golden Corral and Arby’s as well as his favorite Italian pastries from NYC bakeries. He could always be counted on to remind you to put on a sweater if the temperature fell below 70, allow grandkids to play sports in his house and cover up their holes in the wall, and make sure everyone had something to eat. He was very well loved and will be missed.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 11 AM at the Mount Gretna United Methodist Church, 4th St. and Boehm Ave., Mount Gretna.  A time of viewing will be held from 10 AM until the start of the service on Tuesday and also Monday, December 6, 2021 from 5-7 PM at the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078.  Burial will follow the service on Tuesday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors.
