Anna May (Morris) Ebersole, 90, of Elizabethtown, died peacefully at the Masonic Village, surrounded by her family on the afternoon of April 24, 2019.
Anna May was born on May 4, 1928 to Ashby and Ruth (Haag) Morris. She was the eldest of 11 children and played an important role in raising and caring for her younger siblings. Anna May attended Elizabethtown primary and secondary schools, worked at Walmers Grocery Store and was a telephone operator for Columbia Telephone Company.
Anna May met her husband and life-long best friend, Kenneth G. Ebersole upon his return to Elizabethtown after serving in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Anna May and Ken were married in 1947 and were married for 66 years prior to Ken’s passing in 2013. Ken and Anna May have five children: Brenda Kay, wife of John Herr; Nancy Jo, wife of Donald Hoover; Kenneth L. Ebersole, husband of Judy; Donald L. Ebersole; and Cynthia Ann, wife of J. Richard Price.
Anna May was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. She enjoyed preparing meals for important holidays, gatherings and events. She was a prolific and skilled baker, always arriving at a friend’s home with a pie or cake in hand. Anna May tremendously enjoyed camping and traveling with her husband and family. She enjoyed watching birds, especially the humming birds that would congregate outside her kitchen window. She enjoyed keeping a daily journal of her activities.
Anna May was the matriarch and heart of her large, extended family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all those that knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken, daughter, Cynthia, and two grandchildren, Christopher and Gregory as well as siblings Eugene, Carl, Rita, Marilyn and James. Anna May is survived by four children, 13 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren with another great-grandchild expected in May as well as siblings Kathy, Jackie, Joyce, Linda and Gary.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Christ Church, United Church of Christ, 247 South Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 with Reverend Dr. Galen E. Russell, III and Reverend Patrick W. Morris officiating. A viewing will be held at the church on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of the service. A Committal Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
