Zenith Lorraine (Roach) Landes, 90, of Palmyra, passed away with family by her side on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra. She was born Wednesday, April 19, 1922 in Rockingham County, VA to the late John E. and Mattie B. (Gibson) Roach. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Lester F. Landes.
She was a faithful member of Gravel Hill United Methodist Church. Zenith was formerly employed at the J. Landis Shoe Co. where she worked as a leather cutter. She was passionate about gardening, particularly her roses, and playing board games. She enjoyed camping and would often go with her camping group. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.
She survived by 3 daughters, Rosemary DeMackiewicz and husband Donald, Janet M. Boyer and husband Joseph, and Linda Via; 9 grandchildren and their spouses; 9 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Louise Shuey and Martha Kleinfelter. She was predeceased by a son Lester Franklin Landes, Jr.; and 4 siblings, Laura Morris, Myrtle Raynes, Margaret Blouch and Scott Roach.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 4th at 11:00 AM at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078, with Rev. Douglas Smith officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 9:00 AM until time of the service. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra on Tuesday, February 5th at 10:30AM.
