William C. (Bill) Wenrich, 87, of Palmyra, PA and longtime resident of Florham Park NJ passed away on March 27, 2022 in Palmyra, PA. He was born on Oct 2, 1934 to the late William H. and Evelyn (Eckert) Wenrich. He is survived by his wife, Anita Margaret (Freet) Wenrich.
Bill was raised in Auburn and Palmyra, PA graduating from Palmyra High School in 1952 then attending Hershey Junior College and Lebanon Valley College. He is a member of the Lebanon Valley College Athletic Hall of Fame. He played minor league baseball for the Chicago White Sox organization then served in the US Army from 1957 to 1960. In 1960 he married Anita and moved to Liberty NY where they were both teachers. Bill and Anita moved to Florham Park, NJ in 1962 and he began teaching and coaching at Morristown High School. Winning the Greater Newark Baseball Tournament in 1967 was one of his coaching highlights. He worked for the Morristown / Morris Township / Morris School District for 28 years. He was Principal of Frelinghuysen Middle School and later Morristown High School.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his son William and wife Mary Beth Wenrich of Morris Plains NJ, Cindy and husband Dwayne Laird of Harrisburg PA, and Michael and wife Samantha Wenrich of High Bridge NJ.
Bill enjoyed a long retirement where he played tennis and platform tennis, traveled extensively with Anita and his grandchildren, and with their children and grandchildren spent many happy summer weeks at the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Bill had a wonderful relationship with each of his grandchildren, Erica Deering of Kentucky, William Wenrich of Iceland, Amy Petriello of New Jersey , Nicholas Laird of Tennessee, Brian Laird of Pennsylvania, Evelyn Wenrich of New Jersey, and great-grandchildren Joseph, Abigail, and Chase.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 1 at 1 pm at the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home, 25 W. Pine St. Palmyra, PA 17078. A viewing will be held from 11 am until the start of the service. A burial will follow at Hershey Cemetery, Hershey, PA. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.FinkenbinderFamily.com.
