William J. Maley

William John Maley, 81, of Palmyra, passed away at Colonial Park Care Center on Wednesday, October 24, 2012. He was born Saturday, May 16, 1931 in Frackville to the late Joseph and Josiphine “Jean” (McGinley) Maley. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Monica O. (Bila) Maley.

He was an Army Veteran proudly serving his country during the Korean War. William worked for Hershey Foods as a laborer and was a member of BCTGM Local 464 Chocolate Workers Union. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Palmyra. He also maintained memberships at several VFW, American Legion, and Elks posts. Most importantly he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 daughters, Michelle Bredbenner Zullinger (Nelson) of Palmyra and Jeannie Dilworth (Thomas) of Manchester, CT; 5 grandchildren, Kammi, Mary, Kristie, Emily, and Kevin; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Maley; and a sister, Mary Leffler.

Memorial services will be held Monday, November 5, 2012 at noon at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078, with Father James F. Podlesny, OSB officiating. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 11:30 AM until time of the service. Burial will follow with full military honors in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the American Breast Cancer Foundation, 1220 B E. Joppa Rd., Baltimore, MD 21286.
