William C. Lenox, II, 97, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at home. Born February 2, 1920 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late William C. and Kathryn (Schlotterbek) Lenox. He was married 44 years to Jane L. (Seymour) Lenox also of Elizabethtown. His first wife, Ruth Easton Lenox, passed away in 1971.
A graduate of the Milton Hershey School and Penn State University, William was employed by Lancaster Newspapers for over 30 years, retiring as copy editor. He also worked as a free-lance writer for several newspapers and magazines. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, serving in the China, Burma, Indian theater.
In addition to his wife Jane, William is survived by a daughter Rebecca J. Shiley (John) of Lancaster; a son William C. Lenox, III (Kay Hornback), Silver Spring, MD; a step son Matthew Seymour (Kim), Winthrop, MA; four grandchildren: Angela Gochenaur (Tom), Zachary Lenox, Samantha Lenox and Ariane Seymour and one step great grandchild Devon Gochenaur. He was the last of his immediate family.
Services and interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
