William R. Heinz, 77, of Elizabethtown passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Born in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Charles Krona and Mary Bell (Patton) Heinz. He was the loving husband to Gail J. (Gustafson) Heinz for 40 years.

Bill moved to Masonic Homes of Elizabethtown in 1949. He graduated from Elizabethtown Area High School in the class of 1965, where he enjoyed football and wrestling. A proud veteran, he served in the USAF for 21 years, retiring as Master Sergeant. He then worked for Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology for 22 years, retiring in 2012. He was a Mason of the Abraham C. Treichler Lodge No. 682, the Elizabethtown VFW, and the American Legion Hardin Post 113. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was passionate about his garden. Above all, Bill loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his four children, Patricia Heinz Beatty (William), Kelli A. Jones (Rick), Christina Miller (Arnold), and James R. Heinz (Vicky); four grandchildren, Jessica Miller, Gwen Beatty, Arnold Miller, Jr., and Beth Beatty; a great-grandson, Milo Christopher Miller-Smith; and three sisters, Mildred Loss (Barry), Lois Bittinger, and Ruth Noble (Kenneth).

Bill’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the second floor TCU staff at Masonic village and the staff of Hershey Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held Friday, January 31, 2025 at 12PM at Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 beginning with Masonic Service. Family and friends are invited to view Friday from 11AM until the time of service. Interment will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA, with full military honors.
