Wayne E. Hanawalt, 86, of Mount Joy, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Manor Care Health Services of Elizabethtown.

He was born on Thursday, November 3, 1927 in Vernon, Ohio to the late Ray & Helen Hanawalt.

Wayne was a United States Navy Veteran of WW II; he also served aboard the USS Valley Forge during its world tour.

He was retired from AMP, Inc. where he worked in production control.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching TV westerns, sports and camping. He was also a former troop leader for the Boy Scouts of America.

Surviving are his wife Carol J. Hanawalt to whom he would have been married 40 years this coming November 25 th . He is also survived by a son Wayne T. Hanawalt and his wife Judy of Austin, Texas, a daughter Sherry A. Hunt and her husband Jeffrey of York, two stepsons Randy E. Mundy and his wife Brenda of Elizabethtown, Matthew C. Mundy and his wife Judie of Elizabethtown, 10 grandchildren, four step grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, and a sister Kay Wilson of Vienna, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Naomi Hanawalt, a brother and two sisters.

Memorial services will be held at 2pm on Monday, September 8, 2014 in the Miller-Sekely Funeral Home & Crematory of Elizabethtown. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
