Walter G. Nau, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at his home in Marietta, with his loving family by his side.  Born Saturday, November 8, 1924 in Marietta, he was the son of the late Walter A. and Mary (Shields) Nau.  He was married to Elizabeth M. (Stiegel) Nau for over 52 years until her death on Saturday, October 13, 2007.

A Veteran of World War II, Walter proudly served with the U.S. Navy.  He retired from the New Cumberland Army Depot where he worked for over 34 years.

Walter was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Columbia and also a member of the Marietta American Legion Post #466.  He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan, but above all, enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by a son, Michael W. Nau, husband of Lori, of Marietta; five grandchildren: Michael, Samantha, Allen, Christopher and Jillian; 13 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

A Christian Prayer Service will be held at Noon on Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Smedley-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 29 North Gay Street, Marietta, PA  17547, 717-426-3614, with the Reverend Stephen P. Kelley officiating.  A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.  Private burial will take place at the convenience of the family in the Marietta Cemetery.
