Walter Franklin Knight Jr., 95, retired pastor, of Palmyra, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 13, 2026. He was born Wednesday, March 11, 1931 in Annville to the late Walter F. Knight Sr. and Hattie Selena (Morris) Knight. He was married 64 years to the love of his life Wilma Grace (Miller) Knight who predeceased him in 2019. He greatly missed her for the remainder of his life. Through his marriage to Wilma, he was welcomed into the large and loving family of Walter and Miriam Miller.
Walter was a graduate of Annville Cleona High School and attended Millersville State College. He also studied many Bible courses at Myerstown Evangelical Seminary. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.
As a young man he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was led by faith to give his calling to the ministry, ultimately serving as a pastor with the United Christian Church for over 40 years. He served the Annville, Palmyra, Shenk’s, and Sunnyside congregations. As a minister it was his great joy to participate and serve as officiant in the weddings for his children and the children of many other friends and families.
Walter was a retiree from the Federal Government as a Computer Operations Manager at the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot and as a Computer Programmer with the State of PA.
He loved gardening, playing guitar, and singing. He was a force to be reckoned with pitching horseshoes and rooted for the Phillies.
He is survived by six children, Connie Kinsley, Denise Knight, Walter Knight III (Sharon), Ruth Hackman (Richard), Dr. Barbara Knight (Dr. Kenneth Chang) and Andrew Knight; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Bea Knight.
