Vivian Mae (Paine) Hartman

Vivian Mae (Paine) Hartman, 91, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Columbia Cottage, Palmyra.  She was born Monday, July 7, 1924 in Lebanon to the late Ralph and Mae (Hershey) Paine.  She was predeceased in 1976 by her loving husband James D. Hartman.

She was a faithful member of Palmyra First United Methodist Church, retired as a supervisor from H.B. Reese Candy Company after many years of loyal service, and later retired from the State after 12 years as a tax clerk for the Department of Revenue.  She was an incredible woman with strength and determination to live life to the fullest, a self-less, strict, hardworking, loving matriarch who raised a loving family full of the same spit-fire, strong-willed, loving personality she exuded everyday of her life.

She is survived by five daughters, Mary L. Poltonavage and husband Edward of Palmyra, Joanne M. Lingle and husband Melvin of GA, Suszanne J. Neumyer and husband William of Lancaster, Deborah L. Davis of Palmyra, and Lynn Peters Kelley and husband Kolynn of Harrisburg; a son, Donald J. Hartman and wife Mare of NV; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and three siblings.  She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Sarah L. Peters; a son-in-law, Robert L. Davis; and three siblings.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 31st at 3:30 PM at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 with Rev. Dr. David P. Harris officiating.  Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.  Family and friends are invited for visitation from 2 PM until time of the service at the funeral home.
