Virginia D. "Ginny" Schoenberger

Virginia “Ginny” D. Schoenberger, 76, of Ronks, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, after a lengthy illness. Ginny received her final care at Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center, where numerous family members and friends kept vigil at her bedside.

She was born on September 29, 1949 to William G. Schoenberger Sr. and Dina Santillan Schoenberger on Clark Air Force Base, Philippine Islands. At the age of nine, she and the family moved to Middletown, PA. Shortly after, they settled in Elizabethtown, PA, where Ginny graduated from Elizabethtown Area High School in 1967. She then attended Millersville University, where she met a group of lifelong friends. After college, Ginny moved to Lancaster, PA on Beaver Street with her sister, Dawn “Babe”, and companion, Jerry Blantz. Ginny eventually settled in Ronks with Jerry, surrounded by peaceful fields and Amish neighbors for the past 40 years.

She worked at Kahn Lucas in Columbia, PA as a director. Ginny transitioned to working in real estate throughout Lancaster County in the early 2000s. She then became a desk clerk at Bird-in-Hand Family Inn, where her knack for hospitality and customer service shone. Refusing to retire, Ginny worked for the past decade at Manheim Auto Auction. She started her career at the auction as a block clerk. She was then promoted to Supervisor of the Northeast Region, managing many Virtual Block Specialists. There she touched her staff and colleagues with her firm yet caring management style. She was known for her infectious smile and kind words amongst all coworkers throughout her long and dedicated career.

Ginny enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling - often times with the same beloved family, music, and dancing. She treasured animals and had numerous cats and dogs over her lifetime. Ginny also loved elephants. Because of that affinity, she had an extensive collection of elephant keepsakes. She relished in preparing and eating Filipino dishes, her favorite being mungo. Camping was also one of Ginny’s favorite pastimes, especially at her rustic cabin in Perry County. You could always find Ginny enjoying a movie, whether at home or in the first row of the theater. Ginny’s exceptional “joie de vivre” was unmatched and her spirit always remained young and free. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William G. Schoenberger Sr. and Dina Santillan Schoenberger; as well as her sisters, Dawn Schoenberger Jordan and Myrna Darr Selcher; her brother, Roy “Sonny” Schoenberger; and her longtime companion, Jerrold “Jerry” Blantz.

She is survived by siblings, William Schoenberger Jr. (Sharyn) of Lancaster, PA, Debra Beatson (Michael) of Cape Coral, FL, Cheryl Belicic (John) of Elizabethtown, PA, Robert Schoenberger (Susan) of Elizabethtown, PA, Brian Schoenberger (Diane) of Marietta, PA; brother-in-law, Ray Allen of Colorado Springs, CO; sister-in-law, Julie Blantz of Kensington, MD; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 904 Mill Road, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Visitation begins at 10AM. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
