Virginia Ann (Rhen) Schlum

Virginia Ann (Rhen) Schlum, 78, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2019, at her home in Londonderry Township.  Born Wednesday, November 6, 1940 in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Harlan Rhen and Margaret (Keim) Hoffman.  She was married to Joseph H. Schlum, Jr. for over 31 years.

Virginia had a great devotion to her Lord and church and volunteered with the children’s ministry.  She loved being with her family and strived to be at all events involving her grandchildren

In addition to her husband, Joe, of Middletown, she is survived by six children: Jody A. Derr, of Hershey, Debra L. Derr, of Middletown, Tracey L. Derr, of Manheim, Robert J. Derr, married to Deanna, of Manheim, Charles J. Schlum, of Lemoyne and Cheryl A. Kester, married to Daniel, of Elizabethtown.  Also surviving is a brother, Warren Rhen, married to Mae, of Arizona as well as 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will begin promptly at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 6098 Locust Lane, Harrisburg, PA  17109.  A time of visitation will follow the service on Tuesday.  Private interment will be at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted with the Fager-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 208 North Union Street, Middletown, PA  17057.
