Verna Elizabeth (Miller) Hostetter

Verna Elizabeth (Miller) Hostetter, 87, of Palmyra, passed away with family by her side on Thursday, August 28, 2014 in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. She was born Sunday, October 16, 1926 in Campbelltown to the late David A. and Viola (Heisey) Miller. She was predeceased by her loving husband Robert W. Hostetter in 1998.

Verna was a faithful member of Campbelltown United Methodist Church, where she played the piano for the adult Sunday school class. She also played the piano at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home. Verna was involved in the Order of the Eastern Star and was a past President of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed keeping her hands busy crafting, doing macramé, tatting, and quilting; she was a member of the Palmyra Church of the Brethren Quilting Circle. She was an avid bowler and bowled in a league. Most importantly she was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

She is survived by a daughter, Diane L. Duffield and husband Neal; 2 sons, Don E. Hostetter and Glenn A. Hostetter and wife Sandra; 3 grandchildren, Julia H. Waite and husband Ian, Joy E. Hostetter, and Gabriel J. Hostetter and wife Jamie; a great-grandson, Nathan Hostetter; a sister, Esther Buck; and a brother, Charles Miller and wife Sherry. She was predeceased by a brother, William Miller.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 2nd at 11 AM at the DiMatteo Worship Center at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, 1200 Grubb Rd., Palmyra with Rev. Denise M. Founds officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra. Friends and family are invited for viewing from 10 AM until time of the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Campbelltown UMC, 2760 Horseshoe Pike, Palmyra 17078 or the Good Samaritan Fund, Lebanon Valley Brethren Home.
