VERNA HELEN BIXLER

Verna Helen Bixler, age 90, most recently residing in Rixeyville, VA, previously from Palmyra, PA, went to be with our Saviour on Wednesday, October 2, 2013.

She was a member of Lebanon Valley Bible Church in Lebanon, PA prior to her and Jerome’s move to VA in August 2010.

She was the widow of Jerome R. Bixler.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra B. Howard and husband, Dudley J. Howard, Sr., their two children, daughter Angela Frazier and husband Craig, son Dudley J. Howard, Jr., (Jeff) and wife Jennifer. Verna’s great grandchildren are the son and daughter of Angela; Christopher and Courtney and daughter and son of Jeff; Jordan and Dakota, respectively. Also surviving is her daughter Patricia Sue Bixler and her son, Lane Pryor. Two additional granddaughters Deana Baddord and husband Dave and Erin Diadado and husband Robert. Also surviving are four additional great grandchildren, Cassandra and Benjamin, daughter and son of Deana Baddorf and Madison and Ella Mae, two daughters of Erin.

Since the death of her husband, Jerome, in June 2011, Verna has been comforted by her loving cat, Rusty, whom she adopted from a shelter. He was taken to visit by Sandi & Dudley when Verna was in a rehabilitation facility for her broken upper arm and spent much time giving her love and comfort. Rusty kept a constant vigil during Verna’s last days at home and was her final “good bye” request after all others.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 12, 2013 in the Miller-Sekely Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. of Elizabethtown, PA. Burial will be in East Donegal (Reich’s) Cemetery, Maytown, PA

Viewing will be from 10am until 11am on Saturday in the funeral home.
