Velma May Hemperly

Velma May (Barnhart) Hemperly, 82, of Bainbridge, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. Born in East Hanover Township, she was the daughter of the late Omar and Kathryn (Freed) Barnhart. She was preceded in death by her husband George O. Hemperly in 1986.

Velma loved to spend her time with her family and grandchildren, knit, and cook. She enjoyed social gatherings and organized a gathering once a month with her high school classmates. She also enjoyed watching wildlife, especially the hummingbirds that came to the many feeders outside her window.

She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Nance of Bainbridge, grandson Kenneth Nance II (Kandise) of Marietta, great grandchildren Kenneth Nance III and Erin-Jo Ruth Nance, and sister Eddis Bubb.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown, PA 17022 with Reverend Dr. Galen E. Russell III officiating. A visitation will be held the hour prior to the service from 10-11AM. Burial will follow in Mount Tunnel Cemetery.
