Ty Michael Snavely

Ty Michael Snavely, 59, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Born in Harrisburg on June 5, 1967, he was the son of Frank and the late Mary Belle (Bixler) Snavely. He was the loving husband of Karen Elizabeth (Love) Snavely.

Ty was a lifelong Middletown resident and a true Blue Raider at heart. He was a hardworking man who took great pride in everything he did. He took care of the people he loved, and gave his best to whatever was in front of him. His involvement in his community and his willingness to show up for others were an important part of who he was.

Ty found happiness in the simple things in life. He loved being on the golf course, fishing in Chippewa Bay, vacationing in Avalon, reminiscing his glory days playing football at Juniata College, working in the yard, and, of course, cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles.

But more than anything, Ty loved his family. He was incredibly proud of his children and cherished every moment spent with them. He especially treasured his new role as “G-pop” to his granddaughter, Ava. Whether he was coaching from the sidelines, spending a day fishing, working around the house, or simply sitting at his pool with the people he loved, Ty’s greatest joy was being with his family.

Ty will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud G-pop, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will carry his love, his lessons, and his laughter with them always.

In addition to his wife, Karen, and father, Frank, Ty is survived by his children, Taylor Elizabeth (Snavely) Handley, wife of Ryan, and Chase Michael Snavely, husband of Sofia; his granddaughter, Ava Handley; his sister, Sally (Snavely) Newell, wife of Tom; and his nieces.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 121 N. Spring St., Middletown, PA 17057, with Pastor Cindy Brommer and Pastor Dan Gilbert officiating. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fager-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 208 N. Union St., Middletown, PA 17057. Burial will follow at Middletown Cemetery.
