Thomas “Tom” William Vonah, 80, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the Stone Ridge Town Center, Myerstown. Born September 7, 1944, in New York City, Tom was the oldest son of the late William and Margaret (Duffy) Vonah.

Tom was a graduate of Cathedral Prep High School, Erie, PA and graduated from Gannon College, Erie.  After graduation, he taught English at East High School in Erie, Pa.  He was also an English Teacher at Bishop McGann- Mercy High School, in Riverhead, New York.  After retiring from teaching, Tom ran a quilting business for many years in Southampton, New York.  Tom enjoyed reading, New York Times Crossword Puzzles and volunteering at the AACA Museum in Hershey. His love of cats was undeniable!!!!

Tom is survived by his sister, Ginger Vonah Essick, Pebble Beach, CA; brother, Richard W. Vonah, Stuart, FL; and five nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, William M. Vonah of Mechanicsburg.

Two of Tom’s dearest friends, Barry Huber of Palmyra and Cindie Snavely of Lebanon, were  instrumental in orchestrating Tom’s care and insuring his personal safety and dignity. Barry and Cindie cared for Tom like he was family and addressed his increasing need for a greater level of care. Tom was so very lucky to have had their love, respect and sacrifice these past few years.

No services are planned.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to the AACA Museum, 161 Museum Drive, Hershey, PA 17033.
