Thelma G. (Lancaster) Long, 81, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 in the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. She was born Thursday, July 20, 1933 in Lancaster to Fred and Blanch (Stum) Lancaster, and stepmother, the late Martha Lancaster. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, R. Dale Long.
Thelma graduated from Elizabethtown Area High School in 1951. She retired as a secretary from Warner Lambert, Pfizer. She was a faithful member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Thelma enjoyed doing needlepoint, cross stitch, sewing, and tole painting. Most importantly she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Gail Gardner and husband Rick of Lancaster and Robin Hoffman and husband David of York; 8 grandchildren, Greg and Randy Holtzapple, James, Kaden and Jordan Gardner, Emily Keys and husband Jonathan, Jonathan Hoffman and wife Jessica, and Kathryn Markle and husband Andrew; 7 great-grandchildren, Jackson and Brody Keys and Harper and Carter Hoffman, and Austin, Alexus, and Liam Garnder; a sister, Shirley Kline and husband Adam of Klinefeltersville; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Fred Lancaster, Jr.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 13th at 11 AM at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 398 N. Locust St., Elizabethtown 17022 with Pastor Skip Davis officiating. Family and friends are invited for a period of fellowship following the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her honor to St. Paul’s UMC.
