Suzanne Dolores (Runkle) Davis, of Middletown, was born February 6, 1946, she died Sunday, December 26, 2021, at age 75 of Covid-19 Pneumonia, at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital.

She is survived by her husband Gary W. Davis, born September 1, 1936. Suzanne and Gary married August 27, 1966, in Quinton, N.J., in a double wedding with her older sister Diana and her husband Lawton King. Gary and Suzanne were married more than 55 years. For the past 27 years they have lived at 1031 Clearview Drive, Longview Acres, Middletown, PA. Before that they lived in Delaware and South Jersey.

Suzanne is also survived by three siblings: Bryan Runkle, of Bucks County, PA, Cynthia Sharp, of New York State, Louise Tufts, of North Carolina.

Suzanne and Gary have raised eight children, all surviving: Heather Davis, 54, Jennifer Gamble, 53, Jeff Davis 52, Bryan Davis 50, Kara Davis 44, Sarah Davis 40, Brent Davis 34, and Tim Davis 30. And they have ten grandchildren: Ethan 26, Gray 19, Katie 19, Maggie 19, Gwen 18, Ben 14, Julien 11, Lochlan 6, Isabelle 5, and Grayson 3.

Suzanne graduated from Salem High School in Salem County, N.J. was chosen for the National Honor Society and won a scholarship to the Delaware Hospital School of Nursing. She passed her nursing boards and was accredited as a Registered Nurse.

Suzanne worked as an RN at Salem Hospital in Salem, N.J., Delaware Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware, Penn State Medical Center in Hershey, PA, Community General Hospital in Union Deposit, Dauphin County, P.A. Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg, PA, and Harrisburg Hospital, PA, and the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank.

Suzanne was active in her church, All Saints Episcopal Church Hershey, PA, taught Sunday school, supported efforts to resettle Cambodian refugees, helped with the women’s annual fundraiser and worked in the Day Care Center. Later she attended St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Lancaster, PA.

People were amazed at the beautiful crafts Suzanne made: exquisite bead work, jewelry, acrylic paintings, caned chairs, and basket weaving as well as crocheted baby clothes, shawls, and blankets, and for her famed sticky buns and Christmas cookies. And she strongly supported St. Jude’s Research Hospital for Children.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 11 AM at the Saint Thomas Episcopal Church, 301 St. Thomas Road, Lancaster, PA 17601 (off route 272). A time of visitation and memorial display will take place from 10 AM until the start of the service. Burial will follow at the Peace Garden.
