Stanley S. Black, Jr.
Stanley Stanford “Blackie” Black, Jr., 81, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. He was born Friday, January 12, 1934 in Summerdale, PA to the late Stanley S. Black, Sr. and Helen R. (Cook) Black. He was married to Marion J. (Smith) Black on June 20, 1954.
Blackie worked for the Patriot News for over 45 years retiring in 1999. He was a Past Master of Euclid Lodge F.&A.M., Harrisburg and was also very active in York and Scottish Rite bodies. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
In addition to his devoted wife, he will be lovingly missed by two sons, Stanley Michael “Mike” Black, of Etters; Kevin T. Black, husband of Jodi, of New Blooomfield; two grandchildren, Jeremy E. Black, of Waterville, Savannah M. Black, of New Bloomfield and a brother, E.R. “Jesse” Black, of Summerdale, as well as Blackie’s extended family and caring friends. He was predeceased by two sisters, Dolores Essig and Shirley Doslin as well as a daughter-in-law, Teresa K. Black.
Masonic Services will be conducted at 12 Noon on Friday, December 4, 2015, in the Sell Chapel at Masonic Village, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 with the funeral service immediately following with the Reverend A. Preston Van Deursen officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg. There will be a viewing from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Friday. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
