Shirley (Schell) Gesford

Shirley (Schell) Gesford, 78, of Annville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon .  She was born Saturday, March 23, 1935 in Annville to the late John F. and Josephine (Bargo) Schell.  She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert E. Gesford.

She graduated from Hershey High School , and retired from the Hershey Company in 1998 following 27 years of loyal service.  At the Hershey Company she held several positions, most notably as the candy lady, filling candy bins.  Prior to her career at the Hershey Company she worked for the Hershey Department Store as a buyer for handbags, cosmetics, and candy.  She enjoyed crocheting, bowling, golf, Elvis, and watching John Wayne western movies.  Most of all she was a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by a daughter, Tammy G. Kreider and husband Eric of Grantville; five siblings and their families, Gene Schell, John Schell, Gary Schell, Debbie Staley, and Gloria Schell; numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 11th at 10:30 AM at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street , Palmyra , PA 17078 with Rev. Samuel Fry officiating.  Family and friends are invited for viewing on Monday, March 10th from 6 to 8 PM and Tuesday from 9:30 AM until time of the service.   Burial will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery , Annville.
