Sara Jane Becker Erb, 94

Sara Jane Becker Erb, of Elizabethtown, PA passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown.

Sara was born on July 18, 1922, the oldest of three children to the late John Elsworth Becker and Florence Hess Nye Becker of Elizabethtown. Sara was the beloved wife of the late Gerald Musser Erb for more than 68 years before Gerald’s death in 2014.

Sara attended school on Poplar Street and worked at Risser’s Dress Factory. After Sara’s marriage to Gerald in 1946, they lived on Air Force bases in California and New Mexico. They returned to Elizabethtown in 1962. Sara began working at, and eventually retired from, the Continental Press. After retirement, Sara and her husband worked as custodians at the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren, where she was a lifelong member.

Sara loved being a wife and mother. She enjoyed wearing beautiful dresses, having coffee with friends and family, and sitting outside on the porch on warm evenings. Sara will forever be remembered for her peacefulness and positivity.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents, brother Kenneth Becker, and husband Gerald. She is survived by her sister Miriam Widener; daughter Donna Lee Erb; and grandson Brent Michael Erb.

Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Sara’s life at 11 AM on Monday, November 14th, 2016 at the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren, 777 South Mount Joy Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022.  Private burial will be in the West Green Tree Cemetery, Elizabethtown.  Arrangements have been entrusted with the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022, 717-367-1543
